Lake Havasu City hosts exciting, year-round events that embrace the region's sunny skies, scenic landscape and endless fun.
The trail starts in the Bill Williams River National Wildlife Refuge, a vital area for birds and small animals. This section of the trail has many water crossings, although they are usually shallow unless there have been heavy rains. Be careful not to stray from the road as you drive through the refuge. After you exit the refuge, you will be in BLM land with generally easy to moderate terrain. There are some tough spots, but there is a bypass for the worst rock obstacle, allowing most high-clearance SUVs to take this trail. The final climb approaching Vampire Mine is steep, narrow and rocky, and the descent after the mine is badly washed out. Routefinding can be difficult at times.
Head south about 19 miles on Hwy 95 from Lake Havasu City. Turn left onto a wide gravel road (Bill Williams Highway) just after the Bill Williams Bridge near mile marker 162.
