Thumb Butte Trail

Overview

Located in the Buckskin Mountains, the scenic Thumb Butte Trail travels through rugged terrain, past mining ruins and over gravelly washes. The road grows increasingly smaller and more difficult the further you travel on this 14-mile trail. A high-clearance 4WD vehicle is necessary. Certain stretches may be steep enough to cause traction problems, and you may encounter extremely narrow shelf roads with steep drop-offs, and tight clearance between obstacles.
