All 50 states have collaborated on a single, nationwide State Parks event now known as The First Day Hikes program. Start your New Year off with a wonderful hike on Whyte's Retreat Trail at Cattail Cove State Park
. This hike will be moderately difficult and be prepared for stairs and a length of the trail that has a sandy substrate. The hike is approximately 1.5 to 2 miles long. Park rangers will lead the hike and discuss natural history of the area, the pumping station on Lake Havasu (visible from the trail), and the Parker Dam. Comfortable shoes, water, and a hiking stick are recommended. Cattail Cove State Park is located on Highway 95
approximately 15 miles south of Lake Havasu.
