Grand Opening: Tinnell Memorial Sports Park

10/19/2013 @ 10 am - 12 pm

Description:

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to session an official SLS course alongside some of the world's best skaters. Shane O’Neill has just signed on to join the demo and autograph session alongside Chaz Ortiz, Manny Santiago, and SLS Founder Rob Dyrdek. The state-of-the-art course is constructed by California Skateparks (californiaskateparks.com) and inspired by Street League Skateboarding's "skate plaza-style" course at the 2013 X Games at Foz do Iguacu, Brazil. This will be Arizona's largest skatepark at nearly 40,000 square feet, and serve as a safe venue for youth to exercise and socialize.

Tinnell Memorial Sports Park is dedicated to the sacrifice made by fallen soldier Patrick Tinnell, who lost his life in the line of duty in Iraq in April, 2006. This park was his dream for the youth of the Lake Havasu City community. Additionally, the park will honor the memory of Colin Sasseen, a local skater who tragically lost his life at age 14 doing exactly what he loved: skateboarding. Both Patrick and Colin will have dedicated features in the sports complex to honor them, including a feature in the shape of U.S. Army SPC Patrick Tinnell’s army helmet.
