Cindy's Message
Hi. My name is Cindy Scavuzzo. I am a Writer-Editor for the Lake Havasu Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) and I’ve been a resident of the city for 20 years. When I moved here, I recall 3 events: Relics & Rods, Jet Ski Races, and the Havasu Classic boat races. Now, there are events back-to-back from September through April. It’s unbelievable how many events take place in our community today and I love my role in helping to inform the world about them.
My job is to make the CVB website the most comprehensive source of event information in our city. I create and upload event descriptions that educate and inform while conveying warmth, friendliness and fun. It is my goal for visitors and residents to see what our city is all about, because the people who volunteer and participate in events are a part of our identity, too. Along with that I add logos, videos, itineraries, and photos tied to each event to bring them to life.
Adjectives illustrate what our crystal clear waters, majestic mountains, and clear blue sunny skies look like, so feel free to “think big” when you submit an event by emphasizing ALL the reasons someone would want to attend your event, including the natural beauty of our area. I also like to be creative and trick it up a bit by using catch phrases. For example: “Hop in, Hang on and ride out the Desert Storm!”
Our website informs not only the local population, but national and international audiences, as well. The best information we can put out there comes from our event sponsors. If an event sponsor gives us minimal information, we max it up as much as possible with research. We gather information from the World Wide Web, our newspaper, local publications, schools, hospitals, and civic clubs and organizations. But if you can do the heavy lifting for us, and provide a complete and comprehensive write up in advance, the chances are enhanced the event will be presented in the best possible light.
The Lake Havasu City CVB is here for you! We want your event to be well attended year after year, so I urge you to be involved in tourism by enjoying our local events and sharing information about them with everyone you know. I also ask for your help in sharing information with me about YOUR events. How can you do that? Call (928) 453-3444 and ask for me, or email me at cindy@golakehavasu.com. Or go online on our website to Events and click on “Submit an Event” to get your event considered for publication and potentially published worldwide immediately. For the best results, you will want to take advantage of our free advertising by listing your event on the calendar a year in advance.
Together we can spread the word about how our community is charming, inviting and invigorating. Tourism and events are huge sources of revenue for Lake Havasu City, and guess what? They’re FUN!
